The Monster Mashup Show 2019

The Monster Mashup Show 2019

The Monster Mashup Project 2019 on February 24, 2019

In 2016, Virginia artist, Tammy D. Hedge, had an idea. She wanted to
start a community driven project that would encompass local artists and
local school children. The Monster Mashup Project would utilize children
from a local Elementary School and their endless creativity to design and
draw monsters. Those monsters would then be distributed to local artists,
who would recreate them into “adult” pieces of art. Along the way the
children would learn about individual creative process and how others see
the world. She hoped to encourage the children to see that different doesn’t
mean wrong, it just means a different point of view.

On February 24, 2019, the 4th edition of The Monster Mashup Project
will be presented to the public. The show will be held at Art First Gallery in
Fredericksburg, VA. You may view the show from 11 am to 5pm. At 3pm
there will be a reception for all the children and artists that participated in
this year’s project. The children’s original monsters will be shown, side by
side, with the adult recreations.

This reception is also open to the public. It is a unique opportunity to meet all the artists, large and small that have been involved in this one of a kind show. Books about the project will be available to order at the event. Each book costs $25 + $2 shipping cost.

There is no cost to attend this event.
